Working with Materials

I found a banquet light on Renderosity. The original looked like this: Using Photoshop, I changed the pattern on the glass parts, and came up with this:

Then, I began to experiment with various metals for the metal part. Once I discovered the "common texture file" trick, I was able to make a lot of experiments very quickly. Here are the results:

Finally, after spending way too much time looking for my Metallic Textures collection on my hard drives, I got frustrated and turned too quickly. I bumped the original lamp, it fell off the desk, and this is what happened.
